Final Wrap-Up

The Henderson Water Utility held workshop entitled “Erosion Protection and Sediment Control” on Wednesday, January 31, 2007, at Wolf’s Banquet and Convention Center in Henderson.

The workshop was targeted at excavation contractors, developers, equipment operators, public works employees, construction workers, staff involved in the storm water program, code enforcement officers, and anyone else involved in construction projects that include earthwork or excavation. Interested citizens were also encouraged to attend.

The workshop included information on controlling sediment, preventing erosion, protecting riparian areas, staging/phasing construction activities, and preserving existing vegetation where possible. In addition, new topics were presented, including BMP plan development and construction site inspections.

The afternoon session of the workshop included a field trip to a local construction site to see erosion protection and sediment controls in action.

This full day workshop was offered free of charge. A continental breakfast and light lunch was provided.
