On January 31, 2006, HWU presented a program on Canoe Creek to a joint work session of the City of Henderson and Henderson County.

Canoe Creek has been the subject of numerous studies by various public bodies. Most of these studies involved projects requiring massive public funding, hence nothing of real substance has been done as a result of these studies.

It is the purpose of this study to present an overview of the problems of Canoe Creek and to recommend a specific program to correct those problems that are correctable and to define the problems that are not economically correctable.

Correction of the problems of Canoe Creek is an on-going program and will require constant attention by dedicated citizens. If corrective measures are taken, they will eventually come to naught unless a positive upkeep and maintenance program is carried out with sufficient funding.

HWU would really like to take credit for the previous statements but they come from a 1975 study recommending solutions to the flooding problems related to Canoe Creek.
