JOB TITLE:  ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT - Click for Availability of Position(s)
 
DEPARTMENT:  Treatment Plant Operations
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: 
Utility System Team Leader
WAGE: 
Non-Exempt
 

JOB OBJECTIVE:
To perform repairs and maintenance on pumps, pump stations, water and wastewater treatment plants, machines, equipment, and all other operations of the Utility.
 

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

  • Act as lead man to ensure work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner as assigned

  • Keep appropriate documentation and correct inventory of parts

  • Check and maintain water storage tanks and water and wastewater pumping stations

  • Install, replace, and repair pumps, valves, bearings, gauges, and sump pumps

  • Inspect equipment, seal pumps, and replace filters

  • Check voltages and amps on electrical equipment

  • Check and install electrical motors and change oil in gear boxes

  • Install piping to pump stations, new and existing

  • Maintain lines on aeration basins at Wastewater Treatment Plant

  • Operate vacuum trucks, pressure wash truck, backhoe, and front end loader as needed

  • Adjust and replace packing in pumps

  • Be available for emergencies 24 a day, 7 days a week

  • Carry pager for standby duty as assigned

  • Perform other duties as assigned/needed

  • Maintain a positive attitude with team/unit

  • Maintain good public relations

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Must have mechanical knowledge; knowledge of water treatment and distribution systems as well as wastewater treatment and collection systems.  Must be able to work effectively with team/unit.  Must exhibit leadership qualities.
 
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED and 2 years job related experience.  Appropriate certification(s) may be required.
 
PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:
Pass alcohol and drug screening test.  Based on pre-employment physical examination and demonstration through job performance is physically able to perform  the essential functions of the position.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential tasks.
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As assigned by supervisor
 
LICENSING OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Valid driver's license required.  CDL with "N" endorsement may be required.  Other appropriate Certifications may be required.
