Water Line Construction Notice
Construction is underway to provide additional water
distribution capacity and reliability to the US 41 North, Green River Road,
Watson Lane, Wathen Lane and US 60 East corridors of Henderson. A key
component of this project is the construction of a new 18” water main from the
new Atkinson Park Water Booster Pumping Station to Rettig Road. The route
of this main line is through Atkinson Park along the Park Road and then along
North Elm Street to Rettig Road. The line will directly support the water
distribution network from the Frontier Village Water Tank.
Atkinson Park Road is One-Way going south and traffic flow
will be maintained during construction although speed and lane width will be
severely restricted during construction. Construction through Atkinson Park will
begin the week of September 10, 2007 and will end approximately October 19,
2007.
North Elm Street from the rear entrance of Long John Silver’s
to Rettig Road will have one lane closed approximately 300 feet either side of
the actual construction area as the main line is installed along North Elm
Street. Construction of this phase of the project will begin approximately
October 22, 2007 and be completed by mid December, 2007.
The Contractor will provide appropriate signage, barricades,
flagging and traffic control to minimize disruption to the extent possible.
HWU suggests using alternate routes as much as possible
during this construction period. Public cooperation and the exercise of
extreme caution passing through these areas during construction will be deeply
appreciated. We apologize in advance for any inconveniences that the
construction of this much needed water distribution improvement may cause.
