Leaf Bag Program

Henderson Water Utility's 2006 Leaf Bag Distribution Program

Up to 20 free leaf bags will be provided to each household within the city limits of Henderson.

The Henderson Water Utility is providing the bags and asks residents to bag their leaves to prevent the leaves from blowing into the combined wastewater and stormwater system.

Bags will be available at the Bobby Gish Administration Office at 111 Fifth St. on Saturday, October 7 and Saturday, October 14, 2006, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Call the public works office at (270) 831-1234 to have the full bags picked up.

October, 2004

Dear Resident (Within the "Combined Sewer Area" of Henderson):

LEAF SEASON IS HERE AND WE NEED YOUR HELP.

Each year the leaves that are placed in the street and gutter in your area, wash into the combined sewer system.  This clogs the street stormwater intakes and can cause the streets to flood.  The leaves eventually find their way through the sewer system to the wastewater treatment plant and can cause many operational problems.  In some instances, the leaves can result in the bypass of raw wastewater to the Ohio River.

You can help us prevent these problems.

The leaf bags delivered with this letter are provided free to you for bagging your leaves.  Bagging them will keep the wind from blowing them from your yard and make sure that they do not reach the combined wastewater and stormwater system.

Once you have bagged the leaves, place the bags near the curb.  You must then call Public Works at 831-1234 and they will pick up the bags.

While the bags we have provided may not be enough to bag all of your leaves, we do hope that you find them helpful.  You may call 826-2824 if you have questions regarding this project.

PLEASE HELP US KEEP THE LEAVES OUT OF THE STREET AND GUTTERS AND PREVENT THEM FROM BACKING UP THE COMBINED WASTEWATER AND STORMWATER SYSTEM.

Thank you for your help in this important project.
