  • South Main Street and Sand Lane Water Main Project (2023)

The Henderson Water Utility (HWU) is starting a project to lay a new water main on South Main Street and Sand Lane in the southern parts of the City of Henderson.  This is part of a larger project to boost water pressure and flow in southern sections of the City.

  • Pratt Paper Development Projects

HWU and Pratt Paper (KY) LLC entered into an agreement in August 2021 which committed HWU to construct water and wastewater facilities to serve Pratt. Pratt, in return, agreed to use water and sewer services at a high rate of use, and to pay for those services at current HWU rates.

Past Projects

  • North Water Treatment Plant (NWTP)

Henderson Water Utility (HWU) retained Clark Dietz, Inc. to study options available for various improvements to the North Water Treatment Plant (NWTP).  The NWTP consists of several treatment steps including a raw water intake, rapid mixing, upflow flocculation/clarification (superpulsator) units combined with lamella plate settlers, a contact basin, and filtration for treatment of Ohio River water.

  • North Wastewater Treatment Plant (NWWTP)

This project is the last LTCP project in the pipeline, and is currently under construction.

  • Janalee Drive Pump Station and Force Main Upgrade

This pump station was constructed in 1954 to convey sewage from the Downtown Interceptor sewer to the then-new sewage treatment plant.  Upgrades to pumping capacity, the pump station building, and controls have been made over the years since, but no complete overhaul of this station had ever been attempted.

  • Tiger Ditch Stormwater Project

This stormwater conveyance on the east side of Henderson had become overgrown with small trees and brush.  In addition, high flows had eroded the sides, and fences and utilities made it difficult for property owners to mow and maintain the ditch banks.
