The Wastewater Treatment Plant on the outskirts of Henderson County, Kentucky is dedicated to the memory of Forrest Edward Stokes.

Forrest E. Stokes

Forrest Stokes was the Utility’s Construction Inspector during the initial phase of the plant’s construction.  Forrest was killed on the job February 19, 1996.

Those that knew Forrest considered him not only a co-worker but also a good friend.  He retired from the Air Force but those familiar with military traditions would recognize his “at ease” stance when stopping to talk to them.

Forrest was a fun loving and light hearted person who was always quick to listen when someone wanted to talk.  He looked forward to opening his lunch box everyday to see what his wife, Annette, had prepared for him.  And, although his four daughters were grown and had children of their own, Forrest and his wife would fix them Easter baskets every year.  The last couple of years of his life he even started dressing up as Santa Claus for the children at his church.

“I could go on about Forrest and tell many stories that he shared with me about his life, family and faith and I’m sure that everyone here that worked along side of him has many fond memories of him also. From singing old hymns to loaning me twenty bucks here and there, Forrest was a true friend and is deeply missed.”
